Speaking of critters

Gwen the pittoodle was 'profiled' on the Teecycle.com blog.  She's going to have an ego problem soon.  I'm going to have to hire her an agent and a therapist, so she doesn't end up like some of these other starlette-types.

Thanks to Teecycle Tim for the press - here's another look at it, if the picture didn't come through on the first link

Teecycle in the Onion!

I have written about Teecycle Tim in the past - he sells preowned t-shirts and donates $1 per shirt to the River Revilatization Fund in Milwaukee - and now he is being recognized again!  I wonder who the attorney in San Antonio is who dumps all her shirts on sends boxes of shirts to him?

Kudos!

The Return of the Chupacabra

Yes, as I contemplate running the springtime chupacabras 10k (Cupid 10k) at night, in the dark, in the woods, along very technical trails, trying not to bust my arse, you can get your very own Los Chupacabras de la Noche t-shirt on http://www.teecycle.org/ (while it lasts). No, you really didn't think I was going to give up my supercool technical tank that I got for busting my butt (really) last year during this run, did you? This is the cotton version, but supercool just the same - and $1 goes to the River Revitalization Foundation to restore urban river trails and waterways in Milwaukee.

Teecycle hits 200

Sorry, that's not a hot stock tip (is there any such thing these days?) But if (when) they go public, my advice is to buy, buy, buy. Congrats to teecycle.org for selling its 200th shirt! You can check out their new subscription service and peek at the top 10 shirts sold in 2008 - I'm partial to shirts #1 and #2!!

Stray dogs teecycling

As I mentioned, we exchange small gifts at Stray Dog Xmas. This year, one gift given was a Teecycle shirt given by my friend Jenna to Jeff. *sigh* peace on Earth and teecycling to all men (and women)!

the pain, the pain

Okay, orthobutcher might have been (a little) right. I'm experiencing some delayed onset muscle pain from the crazy relay this weekend - and now back pain. I haven't had this in quite awhile and it's echoing from L4-L5 to the hip - straight out spasms. I don't need the doc to tell me that - I dealt with the dual muscle spasms all day. Damn Army. Damn running. Damn relay. I really just don't want to deal with a failed back until I'm at least over 40.

So, I decided to swap walking the pitoodle, lying around, and making pasta salad for the final zoo run for a 5-miler today. I'm technically tapering, so it's okay. I'm hoping to wake up semi (back) pain free. Sometimes that works. Until then, I'll think happy thoughts. Like the fact that another un-worn shirt of mine sold on teecycle.org. It's kind of like watching ebay, but I don't profit - but $1 of the sale of that shirt was donated to the River Revitalization Foundation to restore urban river trails and waterways. So cool.

And I know that made everything better!

Almost Famous

A t-shirt that I once bought as part of a package at a silent auction at the San Antonio Zoo - and subsequently sent to a guy named Tim - became the 100th shirt sold on teecycle.org! Yep, it's right here. I think that makes me almost famous in the "wear global, think local" movement that he made up. I like it.

Race shirts

In my quest to take the best ugly race pic possible, I register for and run a lot of races. They all come with a "free" t-shirt. At first, I kept and cherished all of these shirts, but didn't necessarily wear many of them. In most cases, a shirt was worn once after the race and then took up residence on the rack. As they took over my closet, I still could not bear to part with many. Even donating them to local charities was not a good option, since employees at two of the agencies told me they receive so many t-shirts, they often can't even sell them as rags and just throw them away.

Then, I discovered teecycle. This is the brainchild of a guy who may be lacking a brain, since he decided it would be a good idea to bicycle from Denver to Milwaukee. He has a heart, though, and even donates a dollar per shirt to the River Revitalization Foundation to restore urban river trails and waterways in Milwaukee. Cool - though he may not think so after I cleaned out the closet and sent him a truckload of t-shirts, but they may all find good homes, after all.

Anyway, if you check out Teecycle.org, you'll see my latest donation - and the cool Hustler tee I picked up for my sis!
