WARRIOR ugly race pics

My buddies, Brenda and Jenna, ran the Warrior Dash on November 21, and now offer some pics for Sally's ugly race pic consideration.

While they tried, my initial call is that they only get an honorable mention for the ugly race pics.  Nice try, but not ugly chicken enough!  However, we employ highly scientific calculations here at Sally's Ugly Race Pics, so I'm going to a booth review of the honorable mention call.

 First up - looking highly stylish, but I'll give an ugly race pic point for the warrior hats.

 Here, I'll give another ugly race pic point, since they failed to simultaneouly sludge through mud and smile while looking at the camera without falling down AT THE SAME TIME (I would have been swimming, we know this).

 This one's tough.  The herkie jump is in good form, but I'm going to give one ugly race pic point because Brenda didn't fully point her front toe while jumping over fire.

 And I'm going to have to consult with the Russian judge on the technical aspects here - okay - one ugly race pic point is awarded, since the hands were not 'feathered' in this leap.

 And another ugly race pic point for the squinting (nevermind the smoke billowing about)

 Here, I again consult with the Russian judge - who gives two ugly race pic points - 1 for no pointed toes, 1 for no feather hands - but I'm taking back one ugly race pic point for the bad-a$$ look on Jenna's face!

And here, I have to take back two more ugly race pic points, since you guys still look like FABULOUS warriors!  So after adding, subtracting, carrying a one, and taking the square root - the ruling on the field is OVERTURNED.  The combination of the pics is determined to be ugly race warrior pic worthy!

Crazy running flamingo appellate decision

Well, Jenna has appealed the 'honorable ugly race pic award.'  We here at Sally's Ugly Race Pics considered the addtional evidence submitted and hereby grant the appeal and render a decision that this is, in fact, pretty dang close to an ugly race pic.  Actually, it's a pic of a befuddled flamingo attempting to put gloves back on after about 45 miles, before dark descended, and after an accidental 10 or 12 mile detour.  Bravo, crazy running flamingo, Bravo!

...and an honorable Sally's ugly race pics award goes to my friend, Jenna, for her run this past weekend.  (points were deducted because she didn't actually, in fact, take an UGLY race pic)

What she did do was finish the Cactus Rose 50 mile trail race!  Amazing!  And did it dressed like this:

Way to go Jenna, you crazy running flamingo.  You rock!

Tara's Terrible Tri Pics

I have not yet had a guest here on Ugly Race Pics, but I recently received an email from a buddy, offering up some terrible tri pics.

Now, some years ago in college, this buddy of mine convinced me to attend Army Basic Camp with her - "it will be fun," she said. Well, it was and it wasn't and, long story short, I ended up in uniform for several years and I blame it ALL ON HER! (Kidding - I don't really).

So, anyway, this can be a bit of payback - here are Tara's Terrible Tri Pics in the Women's Triathlon last weekend!

First, the swim. Nice try, Tara, but that does not make the Ugly Race Pic cut. My tips for next time - close your eyes, flail your arms, and do your best to imitate a chicken.

For the bike, Tara got better. Nothing like the action shot of slurping on a Gu!And for the run, I will have to give Tara an Ugly Race Pic honorable mention. Good job partially closing the eyes and sticking out the tongue, but the running form still looks solid. So, you should work on slouching over or splaying your extremities in different directions for an interesting effect!

I will do my best to show you these tips in action at the Wounded Warrior Run (17.2ish miles of hills) from the New Braunfels VFW to the Canyon Lake VFW this Saturday.
